]]> http://www.lifesafont.com/home/?feed=rss2&p=259 0 August 2009 http://www.lifesafont.com/home/?p=240 http://www.lifesafont.com/home/?p=240#comments Fri, 07 Aug 2009 16:27:37 +0000 admin http://www.lifesafont.com/home/?p=240 21468240(2)This new shirt featuring my handwriting was created and made in July prior to a big trip I took to Hawaii and by the time I got back from the trip it was July 30th.  So I just HAD to wait to post this for the month of August so it would have enough time to be up and be seen.  This is the fourth summer I’ve gone on a trip to the beach with some of my closest girlfriends – there are 7 ladies that have at one point gone on the trip but never have all 7 gone at the same time (year one – 6 ladies, year two – 4 ladies, year three – 6 ladies and year four – 4 ladies; see a trend?) - we like to keep things mixed up.  Anways, in honor of another trip and just because of my new found love for putting my handwriting on shirts the beach trip 2009 shirts were created.  All the words are reminscent of various memories from each year and therefore special to each of us ladies.  The three that were unable to go with us this year still got shirts because even if they were not able to be there physically they definitely were there in spirit!

And for my next project hopefully it’ll be my handwriting on a party favor for my sister’s big 30th Birthday celebration so stay tuned!

go-green-0041St. Patrick’s Day T-Shirt-

The March handwriting project was originally inspired by my friend, Mai (like the pronoun), who loves to make t-shirts (for birthday presents or for her to wear at goodbye parties – anything she can think to make a t-shirt for) and as I was brainstorming (with Mai) what St. Patty’s sort of phrase I could pair with the t-shirt, “go green” came to mind. My friend Teal recently got married and I was a bridesmaid in her wedding and I was 100% spoiled by Teal. The Friday before the wedding she was giving all of us ladies what we thought was the kind of typical thank you for everything you’ve done for my wedding gift except that as we opened and continued to open gifts we realized her’s went WAY above and beyond. As an environmentally conscious person and the leader of the green team at the middle school she teaches at all of the gifts she got for us were in a tote bag that can be buried in the ground and biodegrades. Then out of the rest the gifts there were smencils as well – pencils that have scents and are made from recycled newspaper. As you can see she is a very earth friendly kind of lady and was really the inspiration for the “go green” on this t-shirt.  I will be proudly wearing this shirt in my St. Patrick Day’s celebrations this year!

My name is Beth, and I am a Dallas girl (born and raised), and then moved back to Dallas after college. My glorious college days were spent in good ol’ College Station attending Texas A&M University, where I learned how to be a teacher – although I am currently working in the legal world.

To be completely honest, I have always loved writing (with a pen, not a keyboard) – especially my own handwriting. I have always found joy in doodling, writing notes, etc. I had such a hard time taking notes in my college courses where the professors talked so fast that my notes ended up being sloppy. Often times I found myself rewriting the notes so that they could be pretty, but in the long run it helped me retain the information so it worked out well.

When I am not busy with work I enjoy reading a good book (current favorite is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows), being crafty, working out and spending time with my boyfriend, friends and family.

I have finally decided to take the next step with this passion and with much encouragement from friends and family – Life’s a Font was created.
